Here is how Goals works in CoachNexa, step by step.
-
Open Goals
Click Goals in the sidebar. You'll see goals across all clients, filterable by client or status (Active, Completed, Paused).
-
Create a goal for a client
Click + New Goal. Select the client, write a clear goal title (e.g. "Run a 5K in under 30 minutes"), set a target date and choose a category.
-
Add milestones
After saving the goal, click Add Milestone to break it into smaller steps (e.g. "Complete Week 1 training plan", "Run 3K non-stop"). Each milestone has its own due date.
-
Log progress
Click the goal to open its detail view. In the Progress section, add a progress note describing what the client has done. Progress is timestamped and forms a visible history.
-
Mark milestones complete
Click the checkbox next to a milestone when it's achieved. The goal progress bar updates automatically. The client can also check milestones from their portal.
-
Complete a goal
When all milestones are done (or the client has achieved the outcome), click Mark as Complete. A celebration notification is sent to the client.
-
Review goal history
Completed goals are saved in the client's profile under Past Goals. Use these during progress reviews to show clients how far they've come.
-
What your client sees — Client views their goal in the portal
After you save a goal, it appears on the client's Goals page in their portal with the title, description and target date you set. They can see their progress percentage update in real time as you log progress.
-
What your client sees — Client checks off milestones
Each milestone you add shows as a checkbox the client can tick from their portal. Checking a milestone notifies you and updates the progress bar automatically.
-
What your client sees — Client celebrates goal completion
When you mark a goal as complete, the client sees a celebration notification in their portal and the goal moves to their Achieved Goals history — a motivating record of how far they've come.
Tip: Write goals in the client's own words — it builds ownership and motivation. Tip: Attach a goal to a specific coaching package to auto-close when the package ends.
